Himself and Nora

"There’s enough meaty material here for a Great White Way hit ... "
Joel Hirschhorn, Daily Variety

"In a dazzling new musical ... James and Nora’s story is played out in a full complement of brilliant songs provided by Jonathan Brielle. Melodious love songs destined to become popular hits as well as hilarious patter songs accompanied by sparkling high-spirited dances ... Some 14 previous premieres at the Old Globe have moved from San Diego to Broadway. This one is a sure-fire 15th. And one that will probably still be playing when the 16th, 17th, and 18th productions find their way to Broadway as well."

Cynthia Citron, KABC Radio, Los Angeles

"Brielle ... creates a melodious score filled with duets, knockout solos and joyous, old-sod-tinged ensemble numbers ... Ready and bawdy wit abounds ... in clever and touching lyrics ... and in a sparkling five-person company that is convincing both musically and dramatically."

Charlene Baldridge, Riverside Press-Enterprise

Their passionate, earthy romance was a profound influence on his life and helped mold him into the eminent artist he would eventually become. The score runs the gamut from spirited Irish tunes to charming love ballads. This fun, haunting, and poetic new musical explores the many conflicts wrought by James Joyce's unconventional life, while celebrating his groundbreaking accomplishments as a writer.
